Below are some handy tips and information to assist our valued customers achieve usage enjoyment.

CROSS CONTAMINATION OF NATURAL PRODUCTS AND WHAT CAN POSSIBLY CAUSE IT.

Product 'Cross Contamination' can occur from any of the following common Hygiene related scenarios:

 - Multiple persons using the same product with multiple dipping into the pot during teeth brushing periods. (eg: Exchange of body fluids and/or microorganisms between the users of each toothbrush).

- Multiple toothbrushes that are extremely wet or the pot interior and contents have been overly wet inside and then the lid closed (with a natural product this would create a conducive environment for microorganisms growth, as it is a more moist environment than the open air.

- If hands or fingers (wet or dry/washed and unwashed) have touched the product this can also cause cross contamination.

- The product has been stored in direct sunlight, extreme heat or extreme damp conditions which may affect the natural composition of ingredients.

- As with all natural products, once the product has been opened it should be used within 3 months and not exceed this timeframe for risk of it's integrity being compromised.

-Toothbrushes that are not stored in an upright position and allowed to air-dry or are covered can create microorganisms, which can result in cross contamination once dipped into the product.

- If more than one Toothbrush is stored in the same holder or area and are touching and not separated, cross-contamination can occur once they are dipped into the product.

- Toothbrushes that are shared or used during sickness or have food particles/ debris still on them and then dipped into the product can cross contaminate it.

It may also be possible for microorganisms that are present in the environment where the toothbrush is stored to establish themselves on the brush. Eg: Airborne in the bathroom especially with a toilet present in the room. (Toothbrushes may even have bacteria on them right out of the box since they are not required to be sold in a sterile package).

In recent years, scientists have studied whether toothbrushes may harbour microorganisms that could cause oral and/or systemic infection.

We know that the oral cavity is home to hundreds of different types of microorganisms; therefore, it is not surprising that some of these microorganisms are transferred to a toothbrush during use, depending on the toothbrush storage this can also create bacteria which when the Toothbrush is dipped into the product results in ‘Cross Contamination’.

HOW TO AVOID CROSS CONTAMINATION OF NATURAL PRODUCTS AND GENERAL TOOTHBRUSH CARE GUIDE

To avoid ‘Cross Contamination' and compromising the freshness of your Noir product, we have provided the following guide for General recommendations of Toothbrush Care

The ADA and the Council on Scientific Affairs provide the following toothbrush care recommendations, which we love!

- Do not share toothbrushes. Sharing a toothbrush could result in an exchange of body fluids and/or microorganisms between the users of the toothbrush.

- Thoroughly rinse toothbrushes with tap water after brushing to remove any remaining product, food particles or debris. Store the brush in an upright position if possible and allow the toothbrush to air-dry until used again. If more than one brush is stored in the same holder or area, keep the brushes separated to prevent cross-contamination.

- Do not routinely cover toothbrushes or store them in closed containers. A moist environment such as a closed container is more conducive to the growth of microorganisms than the open air.

- Replace toothbrushes at least every 3–4 months. The bristles become frayed and worn with use and cleaning effectiveness will decrease. Toothbrushes will wear out more rapidly depending on factors unique to each individual. Check brushes often for this type of wear and replace them more frequently if needed. Children’s toothbrushes often need replacing more frequently than adult brushes.

Avoid using Toothbrushes that are not stored in an upright position and allowed to air-dry or are covered as they can create microorganisms, which can result in cross contamination once dipped into the product.

- If more than one Toothbrush is stored in the same holder or area and are touching and not separated, cross-contamination can occur once they are dipped into the product.

- Toothbrushes that are shared or used during sickness or have food particles/ debris still on them and then dipped into the product can cross contaminate it.

- It may also be possible for microorganisms that are present in the environment where the toothbrush is stored to establish themselves on the brush. Eg: Airborne in the bathroom especially with a toilet present in the room. Toothbrushes should be stored in a location where this will be minimised at the users discretion.

- For Optimum results when using NOIR ® Oil Pulling, use a seperate toothbrush to brush with to minimise cross contamination of toxin residue. Thoroughly rinse your toothbrush to remove any product residue from the bristles. Store your toothbrush upright and not touching other toothbrushes to avoid cross contamination.

HANDY TIPS FOR KEEPING YOUR POT OF NOIR FRESH AND UNCONTAMINATED

- Avoid multiple persons using the same product pot with multiple dipping into the pot during teeth brushing periods. (eg: Avoid the exchange of body fluids and/or microorganisms between the users of each toothbrush).

- Avoid extreme wetness either with multiple toothbrushes used that are extremely wet or the pot interior and contents have been overly wet inside and then the lid closed. Extremely wet product can have the potential to create a conducive environment for microorganisms growth, as it is a more moist environment than the open air. (especially with a natural product)

- Avoid wet or dry/washed and unwashed hands touching the product as this can cause cross contamination by infecting your pristine product.

- Do not store in direct sunlight, extreme heat or damp conditions as this may affect the natural composition of ingredients

- To maintain product freshness and integrity as with all natural products, once the product has been opened it should be used within 3 months and not exceed this timeframe.

PLEASE NOTE: Customers seeking to return used and opened products after 3 months from their purchase date will not be accepted due to Hygiene reasons.

PLEASE NOTE: This information is a guide only and it is at the users discretion to make their own decisions that are appropriate/suitable for them individually in regards to their Oral care and Hygiene regimes.
